Intimacy and grandeur - the two words seem to convey feelings that are mutually incompatible, almost diametrically opposite in nature and content. The towering sandstone cliffs of Glen Canyon certainly invoke grandeur, on a scale second almost to no other place on this earth - a scale that puts us humans in our true place in the universe.
